Council Loggers Jubilee Events

Large Saw Contest

In this thrilling "bull of the woods" competition, we unveil the ultimate champions among large saw operators, showcasing skill, precision, and the unwavering spirit of the forestry elite.

1. Logs are estimated to be 23-26” in diameter.

2. Contestants will provide their own saw.

3.  Contestants will start on the announcer’s signal. Time will stop when the block is severed. Each cut must produce a full disc. Cut-outs will require the sawyer to restart the cut, with the timer still running. 

4. Contestants will have a maximum of 2 minutes to warm up the saw prior to cutting. 

5. Chaps and ballistic nylon or equivalent protection are highly encouraged to be worn. Eye protection, Hearing protection, and additional layers of ballistic nylon should be added to the chaps as a safety precaution. 

Medium Saw Contest

This thrilling "buck of the woods" competition showcases the top medium saw operators, highlighting their skill, precision, and expertise.

1. Logs are estimated to be 23-26” in diameter. 

2. Contestants will provide their own saw.

3. Contestants will start on the announcer’s signal. Time will stop when the block is severed. Each cut must produce a full disc. Cut-outs will require the sawyer to restart the cut, with the timer still running.

Youth Wood Split

Youth Splitting is the ultimate event to showcase your splitting skills! Who can wield an axe faster and more accurately, backed by sheer power? Let’s see who our strongest youth competitor is! 

1. Contestants will be allowed to mark the log with a marking pencil. 

2. Time starts on the announcer’s signal. Hitting the block before the signal will 

result in disqualification. Time stops when the round is split in 4 equal chunks.  

3. Contestants may have a second axe available to use.  

4. Youth event is ages 14-18. Chaps mush be worn, and are provided.

Jack and Jill Team Event

Get ready for some thrilling action! The team that beats the clock and claims the fastest time takes home the victory!

Three people per team, with at least one female teammate. 

1. Person 1 – Runs Chainsaw, cutting two rounds (sawyer to turn to the inside, and away from teammates to begin second cut). Once chainsaw is off, sawyer returns to starting circle to tag in the splitter.

2. Person 2 – Splits wood into 4 equal sections. Once both rounds are split, splitter returns to the starting circle to tag in loader/wood tosser.

3. Person 3 – Tosses all split wood into pickup. Open tailgate for pickup to remain within 8 feet of participating contestants. 

Tug of War

This exciting new event is not for the faint of heart! Five of the strongest competitors will face off in this Tug of War of the Titans! Winner takes all in a competition-style format.
 

  1. Each team in a Tug of War competition consists of five (5) people.
  2. There are two age classifications in Tug of War:
    1. Class A (Adult) = Ages 18 and up
    2. Class B (Youth) = Ages 13-17
  3. The rope used will be marked in the middle with a center line, as well as two marks that should be placed 12 feet from the center line.
  4. At the start of the pull, the center line of the rope should be immediately above the line marked on the ground.
  5. Both teams pull the rope, the winner being the team who manages to pull the mark on the rope closest to their opponents over the center line.
  6. The rope must be pulled underarm, and nobody’s elbow must go below the knee, otherwise a foul will be called.
  7. Matches are a best of three pull, the winner winning two out of the three pulls.
  8. Winner takes all for Age class/category. 

Dunk Tank

Council High School Volleyball team will be hosting a dunk tank all day. Come dunk some Volleyball girls and local community members

Buck Off Challenge

End of competition duel. 


Challenge another competitor for a duel to prove who is faster, 1 vs 1.


Our Auctioneer

Luke Nolte

 Luke Nolte lives in Cambridge, Idaho, with his wife, 2 daughters, and new born baby boy. Luke has always had a passion for auctioneering since a young boy. He began pursuing auctioneering in 2014 when he attended Northwest college of Auctioneering in Montana. Luke has competed in multiple auctioneer and ringman competitions taking the Idaho Rookie of the Year title in 2017 and the Northwest Auctioneer and Ringman championship in 2022. Luke currently works at Treasure Valley Livestock in Caldwell. Throughout the year Luke does benefit auction’s, rodeos, and fair sales.
